A Fish a Day, how to learn to buy, choose, preserve and enjoy fish products safely, is the project promoted by Fnovi, the National Federation of the Order of Italian Veterinarians, in collaboration with Assoittica Ricerca e Sviluppo srl, the National Association of Fish Companies, and Reisait, Network of Fish Hotel Institutes to spread the concept of sustainability of the fish supply chain to consumers.For each day of the year, a different fish species will be proposed, accompanied by a technical sheet (identikit) containing the main characteristics and nutritional values.
Advice on safe purchasing, indications on the correct conservation, suggestions on how to read the labels will also be provided.
and much more, including a recipe book to discover and consult day after day.In Italy, according to data collected by Assoittica, an adult always consumes the same fish species, i.e.
around 13.
Through this project, therefore, the aim is to provide the consumer with a broader overview of the existing fish species, with the aim of encouraging curiosity and therefore consumption, we would have a double benefit:- Increase in the diversity of fish species consumed and in the frequency of consumption of fishery products, guaranteeing the consumer greater variability and a greater contribution in terms of beneficial macro and micro-nutrients.- Increase in the production and marketing of new fish species with the consequence of a decrease in the production and marketing of the usual ones
